As the director of the grants program, Julie Lerudis “directs money to awesome Colorado nonprofits.” Through awarding capital grants, Julie works with Colorado’s most passionate people in pursuit of making the world a better place, and with the state’s most promising scientists through the Webb-Waring Biomedical Research Awards.
Julie is a CPA with more than 16 years of experience in accounting and project management in the nonprofit, healthcare and real estate sectors. Before joining the Boettcher Foundation in 2007, Julie was an auditor at Kundinger, Corder & Engle in Denver—a firm that specializes in nonprofit accounting.
Julie was born and raised in New Mexico, and graduated with honors from New Mexico State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She has called Colorado home for almost 20 years but still believes that New Mexico’s Hatch green chile has Colorado beat. (Pueblo is a close second!)
Julie enjoys camping and hiking with her family, watching her daughter’s competitive jump rope team and watching her son’s soccer games.
Visiting old Cow Town in Saguache, staying at the Movie Manor Hotel/Theater in Monte Vista, Snowshoeing to the Tennessee Pass Cookhouse Yurt outside of Leadville for one of the best meals I’ve ever had, and hiking Colorado’s many fourteeners.
I was in the original “Red Dawn” movie in 1983. That was the beginning and end of my acting career.
