Boettcher Foundation Announces New Trustees, 2026 Board Leadership

DENVER, January 26, 2026 — The Boettcher Foundation proudly welcomes Dana Hensel and Andy Mountain as its newest members of the Board of Trustees.

Trustees serve as essential stewards of the Foundation’s mission to invest in Colorado and the promise of its people, drawing on diverse leadership experience in business, philanthropy, and related fields.

Born and raised in Fort Collins, Dana Hensel is a 2000 Boettcher Scholar.  She grew up immersed in Colorado life – playing competitive soccer, skiing, hiking, and spending as much time outdoors as possible.  Dana’s love for this state and its communities has shaped both her personal values and her professional path.

Today, Dana is a managing principal and institutional investment consultant with Morgan Stanley’s Fiduciary Consulting Group (formerly Cook Street Consulting). She serves as a co-fiduciary and trusted advisor to investment committees overseeing foundations, nonprofit organizations, and corporate retirement programs across the United States and Canada.

“Dana is an exceptional addition to our board; she is committed to public service and understands complex issues and opportunities facing Coloradans,” said Katie Kramer, Boettcher Foundation president & CEO. “Dana exemplifies the qualities we strive to support at Boettcher – a dedicated and community-minded individual committed to making a meaningful impact in her personal and professional lives.”

Before joining Morgan Stanley, Dana held senior finance roles at Janus Capital Group (now Janus Henderson Investors), worked in private equity at Consumer Capital Partners, and in investment banking at Wachovia Securities (now Wells Fargo Securities).

“I am deeply honored to serve as a Trustee, and am excited to help carry forward a legacy that has strengthened leadership, generosity, and opportunity across Colorado for generations,” Hensel said. “Boettcher’s enduring commitment to investing in people and communities has shaped this state in powerful ways.”

Dana is deeply involved in her local community through Denver Public Schools and can often be found volunteering in and around Cory Elementary School and coaching youth soccer, along with supporting several local nonprofits focused on education, health, and opportunity.

Dana graduated from CU Boulder with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with emphases in finance and accounting.  She earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2017. She now lives in Denver with her husband, Erik, and their two children, Ethan and Finley, who keep life full of purpose, perspective, and fun.

Andy Mountain has advised leading non-profits, corporations, law firms, and public and quasi-governmental agencies for more than 30 years. Currently the president and CEO of GBSM, he works closely with senior executives, boards, and leadership teams on strategy, organizational structure and process, communications, issues and crisis management, reputation management, and government affairs.

A community builder at heart, Andy is passionate about fostering collaborations that strengthen communities and create lasting public value. His work has contributed to transformative public and private initiatives across the Rocky Mountain West, including efforts to protect vulnerable populations from financial exploitation, revitalize urban neighborhoods, expand regional transit, support major arts and cultural projects, and preserve iconic Colorado landscapes.

“As a steward of our mission, Andy cares deeply about making a transformational impact across Colorado through our grantmaking, initiatives, and scholarship program,” Kramer said. “Andy’s presence means that our programming and investments are guided by another excellent leader who is dedicated to understanding communities throughout the state.”

In addition to his consulting experience, Andy’s early career included corporate communications roles with Microsoft, MCI, and a small Colorado start-up during the state’s dot-com boom. Andy also invests countless hours mentoring, ideating with and advising non-profit and community leaders on their biggest challenges and opportunities.

“I believe in the power of human connection, internal motivation and creative energy to unlock transformational personal and community impacts,” he said. “As an ‘Army Brat,’ a first-generation college graduate, and a passionate advocate for Colorado’s arts, cultural and hospitality industries, the Boettcher Foundation is an ideal fit to help give back to the state that has given so much to me.”

Andy earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland College Park. The only things he loves more than his Terps and March Madness are his wife and their two children.

In addition to its newest board appointments, the Boettcher Foundation is also excited to announce its slate of officers for the year.

  • Michelle M. Lucero, Chair
  • Jason Wheeler, Chair-Elect
  • David Miller, Treasurer
  • Dr. Lindsey Paulson, Secretary
