Michelle Lucero serves as chief administrative officer and general counsel for Children’s Hospital Colorado, where she leads the legal affairs, corporate compliance, information security, and risk management teams.
In addition to her leadership role at Children’s Hospital Colorado, Michelle is a past chair and current trustee for Metropolitan State University of Denver and serves on the board of the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation. Michelle is also a past president of the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association.
Michelle is an accomplished lecturer on leadership, mentorship, and women’s empowerment. She serves as chief legal officer and strategist for the Papua New Guinea Tribal Foundation, and was invited by the United States Embassy for Papua New Guinea to be a keynote speaker at both the 2016 and 2017 Papua New Guinea Women’s Forums.
Michelle grew up in the southwestern Colorado town of Ignacio. She attended Rockhurst College in Kansas City and received her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Colorado Boulder. Prior to joining Children’s Hospital Colorado, Michelle served in leadership roles at Centura Health, U.S. West, and as deputy city attorney (and acting city attorney) for the City of Denver.
Michelle is the proud mom to Jordan, Alex, and Noah.
Community Involvement:
Growing up in Ignacio, surrounded by the Southern Ute Reservation, I used to love Bear Dance. To see the community come together and celebrate our Native American family was amazing.
I recently got certified for open water scuba diving in Papua, New Guinea.
