Michelle Lucero, a bold Southern Colorado native, embodies resilience, adventure, humor, and inspiring leadership. Raised in Ignacio on the beautiful Southern Ute reservation, she sees challenges as opportunities to explore and break new ground.

Michelle is currently a Strategic Advisor — and Chief Flashmob Officer — for Children’s Hospital Colorado assisting the CEO and Senior Leadership Team on key strategic initiatives. At Children’s, she previously served as the Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary (and of course the Chief Flashmob Officer), where she led the Compliance/Accreditation, Risk Management, Legal, and Information Security divisions.

Before joining Children’s, Michelle held some rad jobs with fancy and damn impressive titles at Centura Health, City and County of Denver, US West, and Denver Health. She also has an executive coaching and public speaking business.

Michelle believes it’s an obligation to give back to the community. As such, she’s blessed to serve on the boards of a number of organizations. Globally she is a board member of the Papua New Guinea Tribal Foundation doing “change the world” and strategy-focused work with an amazing team in a beautiful country. In 2022, Michelle led a group of Papua New Guinean lawyers in the drafting and passage of a national law directed at bringing to justice people who aid in sorcery accusation related violence.

Michelle has a passion for motivational public speaking. She has delivered keynotes focusing on leadership, mentorship, and women’s empowerment to the Colorado Bankers Association, Superior Chamber of Commerce, Boettcher Foundation, Vectra Bank, Denver Scholarship Foundation, Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce, Colorado Hispanic Bar Association, the national Women in Leadership organization, and Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Michelle was also invited by the US Embassy for Papua New Guinea to serve as a keynote speaker at both the 2017 and 2016 PNG Women’s Forums.

Over the years she also received some rockin’ accolades that include the following — 2023 Trailblazer Award, Denver Business Journal; 2022 Power Award, Girls Athletic League School; 2021 Raising the Bar Award, Colorado Women’s Bar Association Foundation; 2020 Athena Award, Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce; 2019 Top 100 Influencers (Law Executives) in the U.S., National Business Journals; 2018 C-Suite Awards, Denver Business Journal; 2017 Outstanding Woman in Business (Law), Denver Business Journal; 2016 Business Woman of the Year, Colorado Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; 2016 Outstanding Corporate Counsel, University of Colorado School of Law; 2015 Trailblazer, Latinas First Foundation; 2015 25 Most Powerful Women, Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and 2013 Girl Scouts’ Woman of Distinction.

Michelle’s biggest accomplishments have been her three wonderful humans, her children — Jordan, Alex and Noah. Oh, and she loves her Jeep and the places it can go.

Favorite Colorado Experience:

Growing up in Ignacio, surrounded by the Southern Ute Reservation, I used to love Bear Dance. To see the community come together and celebrate our Native American family was amazing.

Fun Fact:

I LOVE anything adrenaline related - driving a NASCAR, base jumping, free fall jumping on a rope into a 400 ft canyon, skydiving, and swimming with sharks. The latter item she did when she lived solo on an island for a month.
