Expectations

The Boettcher Foundation’s top priority is to support our Scholar community. So, we want you to keep us in the loop and communicate with us. Let us know if there is a problem or if you have any concerns that you may not be meeting the requirements or conduct policies.

Please note that individual situations will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

General Expectations

You were selected to represent Colorado’s best and brightest, and we want to see you shine throughout your entire life. That’s why we’ve established minimum standards for our Scholars.

Ordinarily, the term of the scholarship is four years. However, at the end of each academic semester/quarter each Scholar’s record is reviewed. Renewal of scholarships is not guaranteed. Renewal is at the discretion of the Boettcher Foundation, but is primarily based on the following requirements being met each year:

  • Complete a minimum of 12 academic hours (or three blocks) each semester/quarter
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
  • Submit a 1-2 page narrative reviewing the past academic year (and highlighting community service and extracurricular activities) to the Foundation by June 15 each year
  • Adhere to the Boettcher Foundation conduct contract that Scholars sign when accepting their awards, and again at the end of each academic year
  • Participate in Presidents’/Chancellors’ Events annually every spring (if applicable to your campus)
  • Attend Scholars Experience annually during the summer (includes Scholars entering their freshmen year to their senior year as well as any other Scholars who are still being funded due to having taken a gap year/semester, etc.)

These requirements are the minimum, and we strongly encourage you to maximize your college experience by also participating in service to the community, research opportunities, internships, and special programs.

Additionally, the Boettcher Foundation or your campus may invite you to events, roundtables, and special classes. While these programs are optional, if you sign up, you should do your best to attend.

We take follow-through very seriously. If you RSVP to an event and commit to attending, it is paramount that you follow through and actually attend. Frequently canceling or dropping out of events at the last minute reflects poorly on you as a Boettcher Scholar and as a leader.
