Scholarship Application

The button below will take you to our online application. You will need to create a login and password to access the application. Once you have logged in, you can work on the application in sections and return to finish your application any time before the November 1 deadline. You do not have to complete the application in order, and the application will not time out.

For short answer and essay questions, we recommend writing your answers in a word processing program like Microsoft Word and then copying the final spell-checked versions into the application. This will also ensure that you maintain the appropriate word count.

Application Tips

Before You Begin

Ensure that you have requested that your ACT/SAT test scores be sent to the foundation DIRECTLY FROM the testing agency or agencies

Ensure that you have requested that your ACT/SAT test scores be sent to the foundation DIRECTLY FROM the testing agency or agencies, even if those scores appear on your high school transcript. Test scores need to be received by November 8, and it can take several days for test scores to be received. The foundation’s code for the ACT is 0538 and for the SAT is 0019. Please note that we do superscore the ACT and SAT for our applicants. This means we will calculate a new cumulative score for the ACT and/or the reading and math sections of the SAT using the highest subscores of all tests taken. AP scores do not need to be sent directly from the testing agency. They will be reported by your counselor.

Familiarize yourself with all requirements

Ensure that you are familiar with the scholarship requirements, eligibility and selection criteria, the scholarship award details and the selection process timeline.

Add the Boettcher Scholarship Online Application notification e-mail address to your e-mail account's contacts

If possible, add the Boettcher Scholarship Online Application notification e-mail address (scholarships@boettcherfoundation.org) to your e-mail account’s contacts and safe senders list to ensure that you receive all relevant notification and status e-mails from this site.

Completing the Application

Read instructions for each section.

Make sure that you pay special attention to the instruction box at the top of each section.

Capturing ALL of your involvements through the online application.

We encourage you to ensure that you are capturing ALL of your involvements through the online application. If, however, you find that you don’t need all of the spaces provided, feel free to leave some blank. (It is normal for applicants to not need all of the fields provided — just make sure to use those that you DO need in order to accurately capture your involvements and contributions.)

Fill out all required fields.

Fields that are required to be filled out before submitting your application will be marked with a red dot.

Fill out the application in any order you wish.

You are allowed to skip around and fill out the sections of the application in any order you wish, but you must complete all required information before submission.

Do not send additional information.

Please do not send additional information such as resumes, photos, articles or certificates.

A submitted application is final.

Once you have submitted an application, you cannot retrieve and change it. That is why we strongly encourage you to complete the short answer and essay questions a word processing program and review them closely before copying and pasting them into the application form. We also encourage you to print your application and have your high school counselor review it.

Boettcher Scholarship finalists must interview in person.

Please be aware that Boettcher Scholarship finalists must interview in person in Denver on March 5, 6, 9 or 10, 2020. There cannot be any exceptions made. Travel expenses will be reimbursed for students residing more than 75 miles outside of Denver. Winner and alternate notifications will be mailed no later than March 22. The trustees reserve the right to change or modify this program in any manner, at any time.

We recommend applying to colleges under the spring admissions timeframe.

Early decision commitments to out-of-state institutions effectively close the door for receiving a Boettcher Scholarship. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to leave your options open and apply to colleges under the spring admissions timeframe or via non-binding early application processes. If you are patient and wait to apply during the standard application process, which notifies students of admissions decisions in April, you are able to consider many more college alternatives and funding possibilities, including the option of winning and accepting a Boettcher Scholarship.
